Giant Germany Utility Swears Off New CoalJune 15, 2010 RWE, one of Germany's biggest utilities, has announced it will not build any more new coal plants. RWE currently gets 2/3 of its generation from coal. RWE by 2025 will get only 1/4 of its generation from coal, the rest for natural gas, nuclear, and renewable energy. This should put the lie to claims that the Germans are moving toward coal--and not wind and other forms of renewable energy. -End- |
