NREL Noise & Power Curve Tests of Small and Household-size Wind TurbinesThe National Renewable Energy Laboratory has published a series of tests on the performance of small and household-size wind turbines. They have also begun publishing their noise measurements of these same turbines. Below are links to NREL's page listing the turbines tested and links to the individual pdf files. These are big files for those on dial-up connections. These tests and their associated reports were a long time coming, but they're finally here. NREL deserves kudos for not only undertaking the studies, but also for making the results available to the public. --Paul Gipe Small Turbine Verification Project NREL conducted power performance, noise, safety, and duration tests on each of the three turbine models used in the Field Verification Project at the NWTC: the AOC 15/50, Bergey Excel, and Whisper H40.
