This is an English abstract of the original German document: Bericht über den Stand der Markteinführung und der Kostenentwicklung von Anlagen zur Erzeugung von Strom aus erneuerbaren Energien (Erfahrungsbericht zum EEG)

Abstract:

This report from 2002 gives an overview on the success and costs of the Germany's Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG 2000). After describing the success and the costs of the EEG it examines the market introduction of several renewable energy technologies, that is, their cost of development.

Summary:

more than 120,000 people are employed in the renewable energy sector
cut emissions by 35 Mio. t CO2
EEG costs per kWh: 0.18 - 0.26 € Cents/kWh
Total EEG net generation (2001): 17.820 TWh/annum
Wind Energy: from 1990 to 2000 list prices per kW dropped 30%.
