Legos

It's not unexpected that the Danish toy behemoth Lego would market a wind turbine kit. After all, the modern wind industry owes its existence to Denmark and Danes still play a major role in the industry.

Historians of the wind industry would surely find that Lego--the name means "let's play in Danish--has made windmill kits for years. I remember seeing pictures in tourist brochures of Legoland in Billund, Denmark that depicted modern wind turbines made out of the ubiquitous plastic blocks.

Lego 7747 Wind Turbine Transport

Lego kit #7747 Wind Turbine Transport isn't cheap with online prices varying from $100 to $150. There are lots of YouTube videos on assembling the kit. The 2009 kit was part of the LEGO® City series.

Lego 10268 Vestas Wind Turbine

What's more appropriate for a Danish toy manufacture to build a kit representing Danish wind turbine manufacture Vestas. The company based in west Jutland isn't far from Billund, the home of Lego. Vestas is the world's largest manufacturer of wind turbines and is one of Denmark's major employers. The kit's for "experts" only.
