Workshops

Since the mid-1970s I've presented lectures on renewable energy before groups of all sizes from all walks of life in the United States, Canada, Chile, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Fiji, New Zealand, and Australia.

Wind Energy

I provide lectures and workshops on the subject of wind energy to a wide variety of audiences, from homeowners to engineers and architects. My specialities include a broad overview of wind energy development worldwide, the technology employed in both large and small wind turbines, the environmental costs and benefits of wind energy, the aesthetic design of wind turbines and wind power plants, and community wind development.

Feed-in Tariffs

Since 2004, I've also presented workshops and lectures on feed laws, renewble energy feed-in tariffs, and Advanced Renewable Tariffs. Lectures vary in length from brief 15-minute presentations for professional societies to full-day workshops on renewable tariff design.

  • 15 minute presentation providing a brief overview of successful feed-in tariffs in Europe and Ontario's Standard Offer Contract Program. For an example, see Presentation on Feed-in Tariffs and Ontario's SOC Program at ASES 2007 in Cleveland (3 mb).
  • 45 minute fast-paced presentation for evening or luncheon programs on the development of renewable energy worldwide (with an emphasis on wind and solar energy), the development of community renewables in Europe, and European success with feed-in tariffs. For an example, see Michigan Agri-Energy Luncheon (12 mb). Paul Gipe at Rethinking Development Antigonish NS Canada (photographer unkown).
  • Full-day (six-hour) workshop on renewable energy development worldwide, the use of feed-in tariffs in North America and Europe, the development of Advanced Renewable Tariffs in Germany, France, and Spain, and renewable tariff design, including economic modeling of wind and solar energy. For an example, see
